Sommelier

Michelin-starred restaurant Marcus is looking for a passionate Sommelier who wants to be part of our award-winning team.

As one of London’s most acclaimed restaurants, Marcus delivers Michelin-starred cooking in a relaxed and contemporary space. We are looking for someone to join our sommelier team, supporting the seamless running of the restaurant by providing a highly efficient and effective wine service, ensuring standards are maintained and guests’ needs are anticipated.

What we’re looking for:
– Strong interest in food and wine
– Real passion to deliver the highest levels of service
– Previous restaurant experience as a Sommelier or Waiter
– WSET qualified or working towards it
– Outgoing personality with a great eye for detail
– Enthusiastic and able to genuinely inspire others by example
– A strong command of English

What you’ll be doing in the role:
– Deliver an exceptional service to ensure guests have a memorable experience.
– Engage appropriately with guests to ensure they understand what wines we offer and make recommendations as required
– Ensure all wines used are recorded as part of stock control
– Participate in training and development to maintain and increase knowledge
– Work effectively and flexibly with other team members, contributing to the overall success of the sommelier team
– Monitor wine preorders for events

Waiter

What you’ll be doing in the role:
– Deliver an exceptional service to ensure guests have a memorable experience
– Support a section of the restaurant during service along with Head Waiter and Managers
– Engage with guests to ensure they are exceptionally looked after and their needs are anticipated
– To have a thorough knowledge of all menu offerings and be able to deliver and provide the guest with that information
– Work effectively and flexibly with other team members, contributing to the overall success of the restaurant team

We are looking for a passionate chef or a chef with a love for producing great food and a hunger to learn.

What we’re looking for:

– A strong passion for the kitchen, fresh produce and working in a team.
– A great attitude with a willingness to learn and the hunger to develop their skills.
– Ideally some experience of working to specs.
– The ability to work well under pressure.
– Good attention to detail
– A great personality – fun, passionate, charismatic, enthusiastic, people-focused and adaptable to all personalities.
– A great communicator – excellent at developing relationships with the team and others involved
– A good command of English and proof of eligibility to work in UK
– Previous experience in a similar role would be advantageous

What you’ll be doing:
– Assisting the chef de partie and demi-chef de partie in the running of a busy section.
– Preparing, cooking and presenting dishes within a speciality.
– Maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen to the highest level, as part of the team
– Working to the highest standard of food hygiene and health and safety.
– Monitoring portion and waste control to maintain profit margins

– Excellent communication skills, both via email and telephone, with good attention to detail.
– Ability to engage with guests, ensuring a positive first and last impression of the restaurant.
– Ability to arrange reservations in a professional, efficient manner

– A strong command of English
– Must be available to work evenings and weekends

What you’ll be doing in the role:

– Be the first impression of our restaurants to all guests arriving
– Deliver an exceptional service to ensure guests have a memorable experience.
– Engage appropriately with guests, seating them at the appropriate table and communicating all requests and booking notes to the rest of the team
– Ensure all reception duties are fulfilled, including answering the phone and emails.
– Participate in training and development to maintain and increase knowledge.
– Work effectively and flexibly with other team members, contributing to the overall success of the front of house team
