Commis Sommelier

Michelin-starred restaurant Marcus is looking for a Commis Sommelier, or someone with other front of house experience ready to learn more about the world of wine, who wants to be part of our award-winning team.

We are looking for someone to join our sommelier team, supporting the seamless running of the restaurant by providing a highly efficient and effective wine service, ensuring standards are maintained and guests’ needs are anticipated.

What we’re looking for:
— Strong interest in wine and wine growing
— Real passion to deliver the highest levels of service
— Previous restaurant experience in any FOH role
— Keen to work towards a WSET qualification
— Outgoing personality with a great eye for detail
— Enthusiastic and able to genuinely inspire others by example
— A strong command of English

What you’ll be doing in the role:
— Support the Head Sommelier and his team in the day to day running of the department
— Engage appropriately with guests to recommend and serve suitable wines
— Ensure all wines used are recorded as part of stock control
— Participate in training and development to maintain and increase knowledge
— Cellar management and organisation including monthly stocktaking

Pastry Commis Chef

Michelin-starred restaurant Marcus is looking for a passionate Pastry Commis Chef or Pastry Demi Chef de Partie who wants to be part of our award-winning team.

What we’re looking for in a Pastry Commis Chef:

— A strong passion for the kitchen, fresh produce and working in a team
— A great attitude with a willingness to learn and the hunger to develop their skills
— Ideally some experience of working to specs
— The ability to work well under pressure
— Good attention to detail
— A great personality – fun, passionate, charismatic, enthusiastic, people-focused and adaptable to all personalities
— A great communicator – excellent at developing relationships with the team and others involved
— A good command of English and proof of eligibility to work in UK
— Previous experience in a similar role would be advantageous

What you’ll be doing as a Pastry Commis Chef:

— Assisting the chef de partie and demi-chef de partie in the running of the pastry section
— Preparing, cooking and presenting pastry / desserts
— Maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen to the highest level, as part of the team
— Working to the highest standard of food hygiene and health and safety
— Monitoring portion and waste control to maintain profit margins
— You will work 60 hours per week over 5 days

We are looking for someone to join our front of house team, on a flexible hourly paid basis, supporting the seamless running of the restaurant by providing a highly efficient and effective service, ensuring standards are maintained and guests’ needs are anticipated.

What we’re looking for:
— Previous restaurant experience in London preferred
— Good command of English
— Ability to work fast and in a busy environment
— Outgoing personality with a passion to deliver
— Enthusiastic, quick thinking with a can-do attitude
— Must be available to work evenings and weekends

What you’ll be doing in the role:
— Deliver an exceptional service to ensure guests have a memorable experience
— Engage with guests to ensure they are exceptionally looked after and their needs are anticipated
— To have a thorough knowledge of all menu offerings and be able to deliver and provide the guest with that information
— Work effectively and flexibly with other team members, contributing to the overall success of the restaurant team
— Present and serve cheese from our trolley
— Look after guests on our Chef’s Table and private room to ensure they have a special experience
