Head Waiter

Michelin-starred restaurant Marcus is looking for a Head Waiter who wants to be part of our award-winning team.

As one of London’s most acclaimed restaurants, Marcus delivers Michelin-starred cooking in a relaxed and contemporary space. We are passionate about supporting and employing the next generation of talent and are led by an ambassador for British cooking, Marcus Wareing.

We are a small and friendly team who thrive on a passion for fine food and wine and exceptional customer service. We know that our restaurant is defined by our people, so are dedicated to investing in your long-term career development and success, equipping you with all the tools to progress professionally.

We are looking for someone to join our front of house team, on a flexible hourly paid basis supporting the seamless running of the restaurant by providing a highly efficient and effective service, ensuring standards are maintained and guests’ needs are anticipated.

What we’re looking for:
– Previous restaurant experience in London preferred
– Good command of English
– Ability to work fast and in a busy environment
– Outgoing personality with a passion to deliver
– Enthusiastic, quick thinking with a can-do attitude
– Must be available to work evenings and weekends

What you’ll be doing in the role:
– Deliver an exceptional service to ensure guests have a memorable experience
– Engage with guests to ensure they are exceptionally looked after and their needs are anticipated
– To have a thorough knowledge of all menu offerings and be able to deliver and provide the guest with that information
– Work effectively and flexibly with other team members, contributing to the overall success of the restaurant team
– Present and serve cheese from our trolley
– Look after guests on our Chefs Table and private room to ensure they have a special experience

Sommelier

We are looking for someone to join our sommelier team, supporting the seamless running of the restaurant by providing a highly efficient and effective wine service, ensuring standards are maintained and guests’ needs are anticipated.

What we’re looking for in a Sommelier:
— Strong interest in food and wine
— Real passion to deliver the highest levels of service
— Previous restaurant experience as a Sommelier or Waiter
— WSET qualified or working towards it
— Outgoing personality with a great eye for detail
— Enthusiastic and able to genuinely inspire others by example
— A strong command of English

What you’ll be doing in the role:
— Deliver an exceptional service to ensure guests have a memorable experience
— Engage appropriately with guests to ensure they understand what wines we offer and make recommendations to suit their tastes and menu selection
— Master various sales techniques to ensure our guests need are anticipated
— Develop your knowledge of wines and wine making
— Ensure all wines used are recorded as part of stock control
— Work effectively and flexibly with other team members, contributing to the overall success of the front of house team

Resourcing Manager

We are looking for someone to join our Head Office team, supporting all departments by fulfilling their recruitment needs and ensuring our new starters’ onboarding journey is seamless and welcoming.

What we are looking for in our Resourcing Manager:

— To be an ambassador of the culture of Marcus Wareing Restaurants
— Previous recruitment or HR experience
— Great people service skills and attention to detail
— Understanding of restaurant staffing structures
— Sound knowledge of the recruitment process
— Strong written and oral communication skills
— A basic understanding of employment regulations

What you’ll be doing in the role:

— Working with Head of Departments to develop workforce plans
— Develop job profiles for vacancies and advertise all open roles
— Manage and track the recruitment process
— Proactively and creatively search for the best talent to fill open roles
— Screen prospective job applicants to evaluate their skills and personality
— Lead the development of our company retention strategy
— Manage our apprenticeships and college relations
— Keeping all employee records, contracts, payroll information and right to work documents up to date
— Lead the onboarding journey for all new employees and support their professional development
— You will be based at the restaurant and the head office, Monday – Friday from 9am – 6pm

Commis Chef

Michelin-starred restaurant Marcus is looking for a passionate Commis Chef or Demi Chef de Partie who wants to be part of our award-winning team.

We are looking for a passionate chef or a chef with a love for producing great food and a hunger to learn.

What we’re looking for in a Commis Chef:

— A strong passion for the kitchen, fresh produce and working in a team
— A great attitude with a willingness to learn and the hunger to develop their skills
— Ideally some experience of working to specs
— The ability to work well under pressure
— Good attention to detail
— A great personality – fun, passionate, charismatic, enthusiastic, people-focused and adaptable to all personalities
— A great communicator – excellent at developing relationships with the team and others involved
— A good command of English and proof of eligibility to work in UK
— Previous experience in a similar role would be advantageous

What you’ll be doing as a Commis Chef:

— Assisting the chef de partie and demi-chef de partie in the running of a busy section
— Preparing, cooking and presenting dishes within a speciality
— Maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen to the highest level, as part of the team
— Working to the highest standard of food hygiene and health and safety
— Monitoring portion and waste control to maintain profit margins
